Kathleen is well experienced in the headline lifestyles of the baby boomer generation; her own life mimics a daily soap opera of catch phrases and hot topics. Currently a post-parental adult housing boomerang children, grandchildren and their pets, Kathleen’s sister calls the house “Hotel Shaputis” since over the last twelve years a revolving door of relatives move in and out. Most of these familial transients were invited by her husband to live with them. Kathleen holds the position it’s a good thing he’s cute.

As a working full-time grandmother in the mid-Nineties, Kathleen balanced the schedule of an active young grandson with the stress of working a day job and writing with her own brand of humor. She encouraged and delighted other women with stories and incidents of grandmotherly charm. In January 2000 Kathleen sold Grandma Online: A Grandmother’s Guide to the Internet to Ten Speed Press, Berkeley, California. A humorous guide of over six hundred web sites with personal experiences related to the joys and concerns of grandmothers and fairy grandmothers the world over; Grandma Online encourages intergenerational usage of the Internet, creating a crossover readership.

Kathleen created a coast-to-coast tour to promote the book during August 2001, and garnered interviews with local news and radio personnel as well as appearing on the internationally known cable station TechTV. Her presentations in various states were filled with amusing anecdotes of why seniors should get on the Internet. Enthusiasm infected each event and made the audience, mixed with seniors and adults, feel welcomed and appreciated. A fast growing media blitz was sidelined by the September 11th events.

As a professional presenter on writing and publishing, as well as creating the local Olympia Writers Workshop, Kathleen is experienced in dealing with people of all ages and different sized groups. Whether speaking for her books or the love of writing, Kathleen offers advice and a hug to all those that come to her for answers.
